Refreshment
WEDNESDAY JULY 1, 2009

So refreshing, like a cool summer rain!  More refreshing than a tall glass of lemonade.  As refreshing as a hello kiss from the love of your life, or the frenzied wagging of your puppy's tail in greeting you after a hard day's work.  We all long for refreshment daily!

God's Word brings refreshment to the wearied soul (Ps 119:25).  Isaiah prophesied of the outpouring of refreshing waters on God's people (Isa 44:3).  Jesus offered living water by which we'll never thirst again (Jn 4:10).   Paul was refreshed by his friend's obedience to the Lord (Philemon 20).  The Spirit gives the water of life freely and forevermore (Rev 22:17).

Jesus calls us to cast our cares upon Him ( 1Pe 5:7), and He will lighten the load and give us rest (Mt 11:28-30).  We live is a hurried culture that desperately needs refreshment.  Let's live in and point others to the only source of true refreshment - our God!
