Testimony: Jim Phillips
Objective but Sensitive Biblical Counsel
THURSDAY OCTOBER 15, 2009

I first met Ron & Sherry Allchin 25 years ago in Toronto.  Their relational style & enthusiasm for ministry was evident.  Fast forward five years to 1988 & our paths crossed again in northern Wisconsin when they brought two boys from Uruguay to a very welcoming college soccer coach.

Marie & I constantly had guys from the team I coached at our home & counseling situations were frequent.  I often called Ron for advice & he always directed my thinking to the Scriptures.  When they moved to Chicago in 1989 we were able to see them more often (including a couple of family vacations together), & had several opportunities to learn more about biblical counseling.

One of our fondest memories centers on a very difficult time in our lives. Ron was one of two phone calls I frequently made for counsel during those days.  His objective but sensitive biblical counsel was a major factor in helping us grow through a heartbreaking struggle.

We were blessed to be part of the staff at Biblical Counseling Center in Chicago for five years & thank the Lord and the Allchins for faithfully planting not just biblical counseling teaching, but a lifestyle that demonstrates the sufficiency of God’s Word.

Marie & I now serve on the pastoral staff of a church in South Carolina.  Most of our work is in the area of biblical counseling.

Congratulations to Ron & Sherry and the board of BCC for 20 years of faithful proclamation of God’s truth.  To God be the glory.                                                          – Jim Phillips
