Depression Series: Finding Hope in the Darkness
Depression is one of the most discussed counseling topics because almost all of us will experience depression at some point in our life. For those whose depression is severe, it’s hard to describe.
Author J.K. Rowling described her depression this way - “Depression is the most unpleasant thing I have ever experienced. . . It is that absence of being able to envisage that you will ever be cheerful again. The absence of hope. That very deadened feeling, which is so very different from feeling sad. Sad hurts but it’s a healthy feeling. It is a necessary thing to feel. Depression is very different.”
You may read quotes like that and wonder if there is any hope for those dealing with depression. This page seeks to address common struggles and give a framework to think through depression from a Christian perspective. Depression is a battle, but in our battles we are not alone.
