Get Involved and Show People You Care
People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. Would you like to know the first element that encourages godly change in a hurting person? Today let’s look at element #1: deciding to get involved. You learn the next elements of change in the next few training sessions, followed by modules on emotions, parenting, marriage, and more.
Three critical counseling keys help you become an effective, caring Biblical Counselor:
1. Building a relationship with your counselee (Philippians 1:3-8, Acts 20: 17-19, 1 John 3;17). Remember, don’t do for others what they should do for themselves. God’s love is not enabling!
2. Building hope in your counselee (2 Corinthians 1:3-4, Luke 9:57-62, 1 Peter 5:7, Colossians 2:6-7).
3. Building support for your counselee. Isn’t it sad that people who live in isolation from others find it very difficult to implement effective biblical solutions to their problems? We need each other! Decide to get involved. Be the Good Samaritan!
