What Is Hope?
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13, ESV
Act on Your Hope
Dr. Allchin emphasizes action: “Believe the Word of God and act upon it.” When you act upon your belief, no matter how you feel, among the good results is hope and more hope.
This action of faith and hope describes the vibrant attitude of Pastor Dani Rodriquez, the keynote speaker at BCC’s Annual Spring Celebration Banquet in greater Chicago.
When Dr. and Sherry Allchin brought biblical counseling to Cuba a decade ago, they met Pastor Rodriquez, who knew immediately that the Lord was calling him to biblical counseling ministry. He acted as their translator while the Allchins trained pastors and seminary students. “I saw how the counsel of the Word changed the hearts and lives of the Cuban people, whom I dearly love, and was grieved to see the sin and suffering in so many lives,” Pastor Rodriquez says. “We needed more counselors who could help hurting people to find hope and joy in the Lord. This training filled that gap in Cuba.and training throughout his home country.”
Pastor Rodriquez restores hope to the pastors and students he trains, and they restore hope to the hurting people in Cuba. They are a living testimony of serving the whole body with resources that enable others to care for the hurting and hopeless everywhere.
These trained pastors and students have counseled untold numbers of hurting Cubans, resulting in heart change and life change.
